Andre O. McDonald is the founder and Managing Partner at McDonald Law Firm, LLC, where he focuses his practice on estate planning, special-needs planning, and Medicaid Planning. Andre’s experience includes Circuit Court and Orphans’ Court matters, estate and trust administration, adult guardianship, asset protection strategies, and both state and federal estate tax mitigation.

Since his admission to the Maryland Bar, Andre has built a successful practice while maintaining a strong commitment to serving his community. He has served as a volunteer attorney with the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland and the Bar Association of Baltimore City – Senior Legal Services, where he assisted low‑income seniors with their estate planning needs. In 2018, Andre was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan, Jr. to serve on the Virginia I. Jones Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Council, and was reappointed in 2019, serving through 2021.

In December 2025, McDonald Law Firm, LLC acquired Frank, Frank and Scherr, LLC—Maryland’s premier elder law firm. This strategic acquisition significantly expanded the firm’s depth of experience and strengthened its position as a leading authority in elder law, estate planning, and Medicaid planning throughout Maryland.

Dring law school, Andre served as a student attorney with the Washtenaw County Public Defender Office and the SixtyPlus Elder Law, Inc. Clinic. At the Public Defender Office, he represented indigent defendants in felony and misdemeanor cases. At SixtyPlus Elder Law, Inc., he provided legal services to low-income seniors across a wide range of civil matters. Andre was also appointed by three Michigan Circuit Courts (Ingham County, Clinton County, and Eaton County) as a court-appointed guardianship reviewer.

Before entering the legal profession, Andre served our nation as an Enlisted Officer with the United States Marine Corps. Andre later served as a federal officer with the Department of Homeland Security, where his responsibilities included counterterrorism operations, training new officers, and mediating employee-management disputes. This diverse background informs his practical, disciplined, and results-driven approach to legal representation.

Andre earned his Juris Doctor degree from Western Michigan University – Thomas M. Cooley Law School, graduating in the top 25% of his class. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Long Island University (C.W. Post Campus), as well as a Master of Arts in Government and Politics and a Graduate Certificate in International Law and Diplomacy from St. John’s University.

Andre is admitted to practice law in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as before the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.

Outside of his legal practice, Andre enjoys spending time with his family, watching baseball, binge-watching great action thrillers, and traveling.
